Delete your Zuttle account
This page covers both Zuttle apps, Zuttle for travellers and Zuttle Driver for drivers, and operator company accounts.
Delete it in the app
Zuttle (traveller app)
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted and you are signed out.
If you have a booking in progress or coming up, the app asks you to cancel it first, so that no operator holds a vehicle for an account that no longer exists.
Zuttle Driver (driver app)
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted and you are signed out.
If trips, rides, departures or charters are still assigned to you, the app tells you which ones. Finish or cancel your own trips, and ask your operator to reassign the rest, then try again. Settle any earnings not yet paid out with your operator first. An older version of the app opens an email to support instead: update the app, or use the form below.
Ask us to delete it, without the app
No longer have the app, or cannot sign in? Send us a request. Before we delete anything, we contact you on the email address or phone number you give us to confirm that the account is yours.
What we delete
For a traveller account, deleting it removes your identity from Zuttle:
- Your name, email address, phone number and password.
- Your profile photo.
- Your saved locations, such as home and work.
- Your saved payment cards, including the stored card token, so the card can no longer be charged through Zuttle.
- Your device tokens, so push notifications stop.
- Your favourite companies.
- The notifications in your own inbox.
- Your waitlist sign-up, if you had one.
Where your name appears in records that other people hold, we replace it with "Deleted user". This covers your receipts, the reviews you wrote, and the notifications that operators and drivers received about your bookings. We also remove pickup and drop-off addresses from your reviews, because reviews can show on a company's public profile.
What we keep, and why
- Trip, ride, booking, receipt and payment records. These are the operator's operational records and our accounting records. South African law (the Companies Act and the Tax Administration Act) requires us to keep them, and POPIA allows it. They stay, but they no longer point to your name or contact details. We keep them for as long as the law requires.
- The ratings you gave. An operator's score belongs to the operator, so the rating stays, shown as from "Deleted user".
- Comments you wrote on a trip or review, such as special requests. These are part of the operator's record of the job, so they stay, shown as from "Deleted user".
- The last four digits and brand of your card on receipts, so a receipt still reads, for example, "Visa ending 4242". The card itself can no longer be charged.
- Payment notifications from our payment provider, with your details removed. These records are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- One-time sign-in codes, which expire on their own within minutes.
Driver accounts
A driver account belongs to an operator company. Deleting it does not touch the company's account or any other driver's.
- What we delete: your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, the copies of your driver's licence and PrDP, your bank details, the location saved on your account, and your notifications. You are signed out on every device. Where your name appears in records that travellers hold, such as receipts and notifications, we replace it with "Deleted driver".
- What we keep: the trips, rides and charters you drove, payments, payouts and ratings, for as long as the law requires. Your operator can still see that one of their drivers did those trips, by employee code. A payout record keeps the bank account it was paid into. A verified PrDP stays on record as verified, with its expiry date, but without the file or the permit number. GPS routes stay with the trips they belong to.
- Unpaid earnings: we cannot pay out to a deleted account, so settle anything still owed to you with your operator before you delete.
Operator accounts
An operator account holds that company's drivers, vehicles and trip records, so our support team handles these requests with you directly. We close the account so it can no longer sign in. We keep trip, ride, booking and payment records, for as long as the law requires, for the same reasons as above.
